Setting Up Your Coach

Already created your coach?

If you signed up using the simplified expert flow (from the Welcome page), your coach was automatically created during signup. You can skip to Creating Your Coach to learn about editing and publishing.

When you access the Expert Dashboard (via the Build tab in the sidebar) without an existing coach, you will be guided through an AI-powered setup process. This makes it easy to configure your coach's personality, expertise, and behaviour without writing complex instructions from scratch.

Choosing a Setup Method

You will be asked to choose how you want to set up your coach:

From My Website

If you have a website that describes your expertise, select this option:

  1. Enter your website URL
  2. The AI analyses your site to understand your expertise
  3. You receive personalised suggestions at each step based on your website content

This is the fastest way to set up your coach if you already have an online presence.

Answer Questions

If you prefer to set things up manually or do not have a website:

  1. Select "Answer questions"
  2. The AI guides you through each step with smart suggestions
  3. You can type your own answers or choose from suggestions

The Setup Steps

The guided setup walks you through 8 steps:

1. Name

Choose the name your coach will use to introduce itself:

  • Your name -- use your personal or professional name (e.g., "Sarah Johnson")
  • Custom name -- create a descriptive name (e.g., "CEO Adviser", "Leadership Coach")

2. Category

Select the category that best fits your coach's expertise. Categories include Strategy, Leadership, Finance, Operations, and more.

3. Pricing

Set your coach's monthly subscription price. The minimum price is £155/month. Use the income calculator in the Earn section of the Build tab to understand your earnings after fees.

4. Expertise

Define your areas of expertise. This helps the AI understand what topics your coach should focus on.

5. Audience

Describe who your coach is designed to help -- for example, "first-time founders", "senior executives", or "small business owners".

6. Communication Style

Choose how your coach should communicate through three quick scenarios:

  • Tone -- challenge directly or offer empathy first?
  • Depth -- keep it brief or provide thorough context?
  • Approach -- give clear recommendations or ask guiding questions?

You can also skip this step to use a balanced approach.

7. Frameworks (Optional)

Add any specific frameworks, methodologies, or models your coach should reference. This step is optional -- click "Skip" if you do not have specific frameworks to include.

8. Boundaries (Optional)

Define what your coach should not do -- for example, "Do not give legal advice" or "Do not discuss competitors". This step is optional.

Review

After completing the steps, you will see a summary of your choices. You can:

  • Edit any step by clicking on it
  • Create Coach when you are happy with everything
