Creating Your Coach

Once you have an Expert subscription, you can create and publish your own digital coach on the GuidanceAI marketplace.

Getting Started

When you first access your Expert Dashboard (the Build tab in the sidebar), you will be guided through an AI-powered setup process. This walks you through choosing your coach's name, category, pricing, expertise, audience, and communication style.

tip

See Setting Up Your Coach for a detailed guide to the setup process.

After completing the guided setup, your coach will be created. You can then edit it from the My Coach section of the Build view, which has four tabs: Basic Information, Images & Links, Coach Knowledge, and Test Coach.

Required Fields

Before you can activate your coach for clients, you need to complete the following:

  • Title -- a clear, descriptive name for your coach (Basic Information)
  • Description -- explain what your coach does, minimum 50 characters (Basic Information)
  • Category -- choose the category that best fits your coach (Basic Information)
  • Coach image -- upload a primary image (4:3 ratio, cropped to 800×600px). Appears on the Discover page and your coach's detail page. Headshots and portrait photos work well (Images & Links)
  • Instructions -- define how your coach behaves, minimum 100 characters (Coach Knowledge)
  • Subscription price — only required if you plan to list on the marketplace. Set from Sell Access → Marketplace Listing (minimum £150/month, GBP). GuidanceAI takes a flat £150 per paid invoice and absorbs Stripe processing fees; you keep the rest. At the £150 floor you break even.

Optional Fields

  • Website -- link to your website or relevant resources (Images & Links)
  • Hero sections -- add up to 3 promotional sections with images (1051x597px) to showcase your coach's features on its detail page (Images & Links)

Saving Changes

Text fields like title, description, and instructions are saved when you click Save Draft. Image uploads on the Images & Links tab auto-save the moment the upload completes — no extra click needed, and the Setup progress wheel ticks up immediately.

Activating Your Coach

There's no separate "Publish" button. Your coach goes live the moment you do either of these:

  • Toggle Marketplace Listing on under Sell Access, or
  • Buy Sponsor Seats and invite people.

Both flows check that your setup is complete before letting you proceed. Both flows also require a verified email address.

If you have active paid subscribers and try to switch Marketplace Listing off, you'll see a contact-support modal rather than an instant unlisting — we don't want to cut off paying customers without a human in the loop. (Sponsor Seat invitees don't trigger this guard.)

To take your coach fully offline: switch Marketplace Listing off and cancel your Sponsor Seats subscription.

Test Before Publishing

Use the Refine Coach tab to chat with your coach before publishing — you can both test how it responds AND adjust its behaviour in the same conversation. See Refining Your Coach for more details.

Using Your Own Coach

When you publish your coach, you are automatically given access to it as a subscriber. This means:

  • Your coach appears in your Coach Library in the sidebar
  • You can chat with it just like your subscribers do — with full conversation history and memory
  • There is no need to subscribe or pay for your own coach

This gives you a realistic view of the experience your subscribers will have, beyond what the ephemeral Coach provides.

Sharing Your Coach

Once your coach is published, you can share it with potential clients using a direct link.

  1. Click the Build tab in the sidebar, then go to My Coach.
  2. Under Basic Information, you will see a Share link row with your coach's public URL.
  3. Click the copy button to copy the link to your clipboard.
  4. Send this link to anyone — they do not need a GuidanceAI account to view it.

When someone visits your link, they will see a landing page with your coach's details. From there they can:

  • Start a guided onboarding — a short questionnaire about their goals and communication preferences, followed by account creation and checkout.
  • Sign in — if they already have an account, they can sign in and subscribe directly.
tip

This is the easiest way to onboard new clients. Share the link in your emails, website, or social media.

Managing Your Coach

  • Edit a live coach without taking it offline — text changes save on click, image changes save on upload
  • Unlist from the marketplace at any time by toggling Marketplace Listing off (subject to the active-subscriber check above)
  • Re-list by toggling it back on
note

Your coach's instructions and knowledge are what make it unique. See Coach Instructions & Knowledge for tips on configuring these.
